ENCHANTED WELLBEING MOBILITY PROJECT
GOOD NEWS!
We are excited to launch a new 12month project from 1st April 2026, funded by the Sport England Movement Fund. This community-based, low intensity physical activity programme is designed to support improved mobility, confidence and social connection.
The project is for adults and their carers who are living with a range of mental health conditions, mild learning disabilities or early onset dementia, and who may feel isolated or lack confidence to engage with the wider community, often leading to inactivity.
What the project offers
Sessions will be small, welcoming and tailored to each participant’s abilities, with support to help reduce any barriers to taking part. The programme will be delivered in community venues across the London Boroughs of Southwark, Lewisham and Lambeth.
Activities will include:
· Gentle walks
· Low intensity movement sessions
· Opportunities to be active together in a safe, flexible and enjoyable way
These activities will help reduce inactivity and deconditioning, increase social connections and give people positive experiences of moving more in their local area.
Why this project matters
We believe that offering inclusive activities that carers can attend alongside the person they support removes a key barrier to participation.
Participants will experience safe, small group activities designed around their needs, rather than trying to fit into mainstream sport or exercise offers. We want people to feel that this is a space where they are welcomed as they are, and where activities are shaped around them.
Benefits for carers
The project will benefit carers by creating opportunities to be active with the person they care for, instead of having to choose between their own wellbeing and their caring role. Carers will have space to:
· Look after their own physical and mental health
· Meet other carers
· Share experiences
· Build informal peer support relationships
This will help reduce stress, loneliness and the risk of carers developing their own mental health problems.
Building confidence and a sense of achievement
We want participants to experience a real sense of achievement – for example:
· Completing a short walk
· Joining a group activity for the first time
· Visiting a local park or community centre they have not felt confident to use before
These positive experiences can help shift how people see themselves: from being someone who “couldn’t” to someone who can when they take that first step towards moving more.
